My Students

This project will be for my third grade class this next school year. I am switching grades and am looking forward to working with a new group of kids and helping them develop a love for learning! Our school is amazing, and it is a very warm and inviting place. We have a wonderful community of teachers, parents, and students working hard every day to help everyone succeed.

My school has a very diverse population of students and families.

We are located in what some call a bedroom community, that refers to parents working farther from home. Some of our students are low income, English Language Learners, come from single parent homes, or are living with other guardians. It can be challenging meeting the needs of the varying abilities and backgrounds of the students, but it is something I enjoy doing. I am looking to instill a love for learning in my students.

My Project

My students have requested standing desks because they like to stand to work but hate bending over at their desks. The desks allow them to move as needed, stay active, and for some keep them awake. They have also asked for two wobble chairs and two t-stools because they used them in another teacher's class. My students have requested the chairs so that they can move as needed to stay focused during class. An active class is a focused class!

Finally, my students have requested a printer for the class to use to print out brag tags that they will design and earn by staying active, making healthy choices, and logging how many steps they have taken each day.

Staying active has been proven to help student's understanding and boost their learning.
