This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My name is Oyuki Angel, and I’m a 5th grade teacher.

I’m reaching out in hopes of securing support to provide sports and play.

I want to give my students the chance to build healthy habits, learn teamwork, and simply enjoy being kids through play. With the right equipment, I can create fun and inclusive activities that support their physical, social, and emotional well-being.

What makes my students truly special is their spirit. They are playful, competitive, and full of energy — even when they don’t have much to work with. They’ll organize a full game with old, ripped balls and still give it their all, laughing and cheering each other on. Their creativity, resilience, and joy in simply getting to play are inspiring. I want to nurture that spark by giving them the tools they deserve to play safely, freely, and with pride.
