This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want to give my students so much because they have so little. Most of the students I work with come from homes below the poverty line, and I want them to have the chance to experience something that can influence their lives. Some of these students don't have access to the simplest supplies at home.

I want them to be exposed to as much as possible so that they don't fall behind.

Even though they have so much going against them, they bounce back each time and come to school ready to learn. They look to our school as a place to escape their rough home lives and that makes me want to provide them with everything I can.

My Project

This upcoming school year, there are so many unknowns. I am trying to develop some good ideas for physical education classes that are social distance activities. I think active gaming is a great idea that can help the students stay engaged. Students can play different games that are considered cardiovascular activity. For example, a Nintendo Switch and an Xbox connect can improve students' overall fitness level by actively participating in video games. The equipment being asked are Nintendo switches which can connect to a TV or a projector.

Next year, we will be limited on space, so equipment like this can be easily moved around from room to room.

I know my students will be very excited to participate in an active gaming unit because most of my students Play some sort of video games at home. Bringing a Nintendo switch into a physical education setting can help engage students in activity, increasing their heart rate.
