My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Many come from low-income neighborhoods where generational poverty is, unfortunately, the norm. My students deserve to have opportunities that are equal to students that have much more than they do.

My students deserve the world.

This hard time has taken a real toll on my students. We have all transitioned back to full-time in-person learning which has been exciting but uncomfortable for most. It will come with a whole new set of challenges. I do my best to give them the tools to overcome their hardships and have a successful future.

Despite the hardships, my students always come to school with smiles on their faces and questions to ask. They are eager to be part of the learning. They are constantly asking questions and promoting much deeper thinking. School is often the only safe and fun place for my students to be. When my students are here, I know they are in a safe, positive environment, where they will get at least two meals a day.

My Project

Many of my students are reading above grade level. When reading a majority of the books I have, students aren't pushing themselves.

Having a variety of high-level books will support my students in reaching their personal reading goals.

These novels will assist in growing and pushing my top students to continue to achieve! They will be able to have conversations and do higher-level work. My goal is that ALL students grow at least a year in reading achievement, and this specific group of novels will help support my high groups.
