My Students

Do you remember your early elementary years? It is a time where you learn to read and write, start to learn the basic principles of math, and learn about the world around you. It is the time when students either fall in love with learning or sadly, they don't. It is my mission as a teacher to create a welcoming learning environment for students to take chances, make mistakes, and grow as learners who love school.

My students are a unique and diverse set of learners.

They face challenges in learning to read, write, and do math, but they are always trying their absolute best.

My Project

The words "sit still" are never spoken in my room. I have found that flexible seating allows my students to better engage and focus on their learning, but my exercise balls do not meet the wide range of needs of all my students. The wobble stools and balance disks will allow my students greater flexibility to get their learn on.

Studies show that children who are more active exhibit better focus, faster cognitive processing, and more successful memory retention than kids who spend the day sitting still.

Many of my students have memory deficits and require multiple repetitions to acquire new skills. Games are a great way to practice these skills, but plastic baggies aren't always the best storage option. The storage containers will allow a variety of games to be easily accessible and stored when not in use.
