My Students
My students rarely think beyond the current day, but once a year, they are jolted into reality by taking the ACT test. The school pays for the test for all juniors, and it is an excellent opportunity for them to prepare for college and take an honest look at what they actually know.
In a rural school district outside of a major metropolitan area, my students range from middle class students, to migrant workers, to children of local farmers.
Many students are unaware of the ACT test until junior year, when they are "forced" to take it. That's why this project will be so helpful. It will benefit hundreds of students by supplying them with the means of preparing for a life-changing exam.
My Project
Using this class set of ACT study guides, students will work throughout the year to prepare for the ACT test. I can design instructional units around the study guide to be sure that my students have what they need to succeed on the test. Students will learn reading, writing, mathematics, and science from the exercises designed from the study guide.
Not only will the ACT study guides benefit student test scores, they will also provide students hope for their future.
They will be one step closer to a college education and success in their post-secondary lives.
