Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are kids who are from East LA. They are a part of the 99.9 Hispanic are at our school and aspire to leave the lower socio-economical status they are in. They aspire to be doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers and much more. They want to learn how to better themselves and reading is one step of that.
Each student has a goal to reach that encourages them to read various genres of books between their reading range and ability.
They are challenged to read books that give them the opportunity to branch out of their comfort zone and progress to being college-ready!
My Project
These books like Dog Man, I Am, Chronicles of Narnia, The Outsiders, Lord of the Flies, and much more will allow for my students to dive deep into various worlds of imaginative and creative worlds.
These books will help them reach their AR goal and develop stronger reading comprehension and develop better vocabulary throughout the educational journey to become college-ready and prepare themselves to advance on to the next grade.
The students can continue to progress rapidly and steadily at their own pace still be able to read fiction and non-fiction books. Classics like The Outsiders and Lord of the Flies are just the tip of the iceberg for these students.
