Every morning my students and I have circle time about feelings, what we learned the day before and how we can do better that day. At times, I notice that my students can't always hear everyone because we don't have carpet in our room like the other hearing impaired classrooms.
I teach hearing impaired students that are in the 3rd and 5th grade.
Our school is located in a low poverty area in Michigan. My students are wonderful. They love coming to school and they are always ready to learn. The main issue that frustrates them is sometimes they can't always hear their classmates during discussion. Being hearing impaired, all of my students loss levels are different and some students talk lower and some talk really loud and the sound waves seem better for them when we are in a classroom with carpet. They don't say "huh, what you say" as much.
My Project
I will put the carpet in my classroom and the students will be able to hear better just by sitting on a rug, the acoustics will improve. I know this will help with communication breakdowns that they we often have because of the sound. Also, sitting on the carpet makes things more personable and the students will be more comfortable communicating during circle time discussion.
Your donations will definitely change my students' lives because you will be helping them improve their communication with each other.
They will be able to talk to each other and not have as many communication break downs. We appreciate your support! Thank you!
