My Project
I’ve worked as a music specialist in the Jersey City Public Schools for over five years, and I am excited to begin teaching music at PNS beginning in September. The elementary school is located in the Heights section of Jersey City, New Jersey.
Our school is a welcoming home that serves a diverse student population.
Over 475 students in PreK through grade 5 attend our school. About 50% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.
I plan to use the Little Kids Rock pedagogy when teaching 5th grade general music in the upcoming school year. Students will have the opportunity to develop music skills by playing popular songs they love on modern band instruments such as the ukulele, drums, and keyboard.
Presently, we only have a few guitars at the school. This project will expand the school's guitar inventory and give more students the opportunity to learn how to play the guitar in general music class. These guitars will help ensure that the 2022-2023 school year rocks!
