it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In high school math classes, it is crucial that students each have a calculator and that the calculator they are using is the same model as what their teacher instructs from on a daily basis. The students in my math classes are fortunate because they have had this learning benefit over the past few years.
During the course of the year, it is common for classroom supplies, including calculators, to become damaged or worn out from daily use.
As we move into the new school year, I will need some replacement calculators so that my new students have the same positive experience as my students who have now moved on.
While students can do okay with any scientific calculator, there is a substantial benefit to using the same calculator model as their peers and their teacher. This comes in particularly handy when students are learning topics such as trigonometry and need to follow precise instructions for selecting certain operations. By using a consistent device, students are able to follow along, gain confidence, and learn the material instead of being confused on where certain buttons may be on their unique calculator.
