My Students
I am a special education resource teacher in Washoe County School District. I work students in a small group setting to support their specific learning disabilities. They are always excited about learning, but they need content to be presented to them in a variety of ways. They require repetition, immediate feedback, and manipulatives to grasp the same concepts as typically developing peers. Using additional resources, such as manipulatives, provides my students with more opportunities to learn. They love the hands on activities and academic games which are often conducive to their learning.
My Project
As a resource teacher in Washoe County, we are not supplied with curriculum or materials to use when providing specially designed instruction to our students. I have limited resources to utilize to help my students achieve their IEP goals and access grade level content.
With these materials, learning can become fun and exciting for my students!
Due to COVID, last year my students missed out on a variety of hands on learning experiences. Now, they are excited to share manipulatives and supplies to increase engagement and learning.
The math manipulatives and games will help my students to meet the following grade level standards. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.NF.3-7
The reading comprehension and fluency tools will help my students to meet the following grade level standards. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.5.4
