it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever read a story and wondered how the characters voice would sound? Listening to a story being read fluently helps the reader understand and visualize the character as well as comprehend the story.
I teach a third grade monolingual class.
Our school is located in a high-need, low income community where for many of my students English is NOT their dominant language. My students love to read however at times the language becomes a barrier. It affects their fluency while they read. They love to listen to stories being read to them.
My Project
I am requesting listening center activities that will support my students in becoming fluent readers. Achieving fluency is a skill that will help my students to improve their comprehension skills while reading. These activities will also lead to improving their reading rate which will lead to improving their test scores.
My students' successful reading journeys include being fluent readers.
You can help them by supporting our proposal. A simple task of listening and practicing fluency when we read will have a huge positive impact on the reading achievements of my students.
