My Project
Accounting concepts can be very difficult for students to understand, especially if they are only taught through textbooks and worksheets.
I have witnessed the difference that hands-on learning can make in my classroom and want my Accounting students to master concepts through specific games and activities that will both engage and teach at the same time.
Balancing debits and credits will be taught with an actual balance scale where students will show how to record transactions by keeping everything in balance. Playing games such as "Spoons" with a deck of cards using accounting concepts will help improve vocabulary comprehension and memory. Working together as teams to show how accounts are changed through debits and credits with the pool noodle game has been an effective tool in many other classrooms.
I'm excited to help my students learn and master difficult Accounting principles through these fun activities. So many of my students struggle academically but have a great desire to learn - I know that this will be a huge improvement in their learning journey and will build confidence that they will use in the future. The concepts they learn in Accounting will be used by every student in their personal and professional experiences as adults.
