This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am currently teaching in the Autism Spectrum Disorder Program at a Middle School in Hialeah. Our school, and many others, do not have funds to supply us with tools, like updated technology. We share over 100+ students in our program. To properly instruct our students, a multitude of resources are needed to ensure they are being accommodated.

Our schools population is comprised of low-income students receiving free or reduced lunch. Many students are English Language Learners, whom have been in the United States for a short period of time. Some of our students are not speech proficient and will benefit from technology to help him/her communicate and learn. With these resources, I will be able to explore the abilities of my students and encourage them to learn through their strongholds. The more resources available to me, the more I can ensure that each unique student gets the chance to learn something new every day.

My Project

iPads help our students in the ASD program accommodate and modify their learning. Now in days, everyone relies on technology for multiple things: calculating, spelling, and researching. Having these iPads will allow me to teach my students how to make their life accessible, like ours.

Using these iPads, students will be able to use Siri, applications, and resources.

Siri can help students spell, research, and answer simple questions. The application store holds a variety of applications that enrich and encourage learning. Lastly, all the resources available on these iPad will accommodate learning for my students in ways your couldn’t even imagine. Technology is a great resource when used properly, and I believe my student will benefit from these iPad greatly!
