This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are bright, energetic, inner-city children that are simply overjoyed at the return to in person learning. Our children live in an impoverished, crime-ridden neighborhood, known throughout Philadelphia for drug activity and violence.

Our school is a place where the children are safe, loved, and most importantly, educated.

Our rather large K-4 school has become the center of our children's neighborhood.

My Project

It can be quite challenging for students to learn if they do not come to school in clean clothing or encounter an unfortunate accident during the day which leaves them soiled. At the current time, our community clothing closet is in desperate need of uniform pants.

Accidents can truly happen to anyone, at any age, creating an urgent and often embarrassing need for clean clothing.

Being able to access clean clothing from our community closet goes a long way in the day of a child needing a little extra help to make it through the day.
