I am a pre-kindergarten teacher in a low-income, high poverty area in Homestead, Florida. This year is the first year the school has pre-K, and I am beyond excited to jump-start the program. Our school is a Title I school, which means that almost all of the students in the school receive free or reduced-price lunches. Most of these children come from difficult home environments and lack exposure to things that we can sometimes take for granted. My students are hard-working and eager to learn. They are also so grateful for new opportunities and excited for fun learning experiences.
My Project
This project will allow my students to have the needed accessories for our classroom computers without distraction or noise. Currently, they are using either broken headphones or none at all, which makes concentration on their online lessons a huge challenge. We also need mousepads for some of the computers where there are none. By having these needed items, students will be able to fully concentrate on learning key literacy skills through our fabulous district programs. I also use laptop computers for other programs in order for students to learn letters and sounds. This will help them soar to success and get ready for kindergarten. This makes having headphones critical to the learners' outcome. Thank you for your consideration in contributing to this project!
