My Project
I am seeking this grant to purchase new desks and chairs for my inclusive math classroom, where I work with students with disabilities. In my classroom, students collaborate in triad groups at whiteboards to solve problems, engaging in active, hands-on learning. However, our current furniture limits movement and flexibility, making it difficult to create an optimal learning environment (especially for our students in a wheelchair). By investing in new, mobile desks and chairs, we can create more space, allowing students to comfortably transition between seated work and standing collaboration at whiteboards, fostering deeper mathematical thinking and engagement.
With this funding, I will be able to redesign my small classroom to better support my students’ diverse learning needs.
The new furniture will promote accessibility, mobility, and engagement, ensuring that all students—regardless of ability—have an equitable opportunity to participate fully in our collaborative problem-solving approach. By making these changes, I can continue to build a classroom where all learners feel supported and empowered to think critically, communicate effectively, and develop a deeper understanding of mathematics. Your support will have a lasting impact on my students' ability to thrive in a space designed for active learning and meaningful collaboration.
