My Project
Hi all, and thank you for considering funding my project! The middle school band is a fantastic place for many students to find a home, a place to be creative, challenged, and collaborative with many of their peers. It is my hope that I can remove some of the barriers that students encounter when trying to participate in instrumental music, such as rental/ purchasing fees. The mallets and percussion instruments you see on this list are all items that students interact with daily, and are expected to provide themselves.
By offering a alternative such as mallets and equipment that students can use from the school, it effectively removes that barrier for participation and allows students to focus more on their skills and passion for music.
My goal for this project is to provide quality equipment for my percussion students and therefore encourage a deeper learning of foundational skills such as rhythms and notes and push their passion to create higher levels of music. My students are strong and resilient and when they become passionate about a project. They work hard to create their best. These quality materials will open the door to talk about tone quality, blend with neighbors, and use higher level thinking skills that were not originally achievable with basic tools. This will revolutionize the way me and my percussion students speak about music.
