Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

During this current school year, I am teaching in a Resource Classroom grades TK-5. In this classroom, the wide variety of students' needs differs from each other due to age and disability. The students who receive academic support in a resource classroom have Individualized Education Programs (IEP's), but they are currently enrolled in a general education classroom. They are predominately Latinx, low-income, and 100% of my students qualify for the Federal Free Lunch program. In the Resource Classroom, students are given direct, specialized instruction and academic remediation and assistance with homework and related assignments as individuals or in groups.

My Project

These set of highlighters, colored pencils, and dried erase slant boards will allow my students having access to a variety of materials while participating in different instructional activities. Most for these activities are texts that we closely analyze by adding annotations, highlighting vocabulary, and color-coding key details. Placing the printed text on the slated board allows my students to see and write on the paper in a more confortable manner.

Having a wide variety of accommodated materials such as thick and thin pencils with erasers makes the work accessible and less stressful.
