This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At my school, we serve a very underprivileged group of individuals. These young ladies and gentlemen come from broken homes with little money (school is 100% free lunch). They have very little to look forward to and that is something that I try to change within the walls of my classroom. I believe that through your help my room can become a refuge for those students who see education as their way out of this downward spiral. In addition, I want my room to be a place where people who don't like education can eventually start to turn themselves around before they go to high school.

My Project

Members of my staff and I have been coaching soccer, softball, and basketball for a number of years now and some of the basic tools needed to make our students thrive have begun to vanish or have been used up over time. So we are focusing on rebuilding some of the basics for our key sports to hopefully have productive seasons to come.

Coaching is a full-filling way to give back to the community but we need help financially.

We are asking for coaching drills to keep us up to date with our methodologies and keeping the students working out in a safe and responsible manner. The basketball mats are needed to keep our students stuck to the court with less chance of falling over. The softball equipment is for our upcoming season in which we want to replace missing pieces along with some needed safety equipment.

As you can see we are not asking for a lot of cheap thrills but rather basics to keep our teams afloat. This will also help them to learn while playing sports key facts about math, physics, social interaction, and teamwork; just like their favorite athletes on ESPN.
