Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Elementary school can be one of the most difficult times for a student. A student at this academic level is expected to develop and mature socially as well as academically. This expectation can be especially difficult when a child is struggling greatly with basic reading and computation skills.
I teach a self- contained special education middle school ELA and math class, within a high poverty- title one school, with a diversified group of learners.
My students exhibit struggles with their core academic areas, with some struggling in math and most struggling in reading. In addition there is also a large population of students in the class that are English language learners who exhibit extreme language arts deficiencies. Despite their learning struggles and limited resources my student's enjoy learning and exhibit great efforts in the classroom. As a special education teacher I want to be able to provide my students with the maximum level of support and intervention to help them reach their academic goals.
My Project
In these tough and uneasy times our students are getting their education through a blended option of in-person and remote learning and having the technology in order to do so is extremely important. These laptops will help our students access the curriculum while they are at home and will allow them to remain on track with the rest of their classmates.
As they learn at home students will be able to log on to our classes and be able to complete their assignments, conduct research, study and participate in their class meets.
These computers will be instrumental in them having a successful 2020-2021 school year.
