My Students

The students in my school come from an impoverished community. Studies show that students learn well when interacting with and utilizing technology. Most of the students in 6th-8th grade perform lower than their peers in similar communities. Over 50% of the students at our school test in the limited range.

Without access to appropriate technology to enrich their education, students will not be able to acquire the skills necessary to perform in the workforce or participate in real-world applications.

Technology also helps our students learn to collaborate with others, in their own school or even a school in a different country, and allows access to information not readily available in the classroom. Most importantly, in a society that is more tuned into the advantages of online resources , the students will become further engaged with their learning. An engaged student is a student who is learning.

My Project

Students will use the 5 computers to access learning programs to increase literacy, such as Compass Learning and Flocabulary, as well as perform research projects that focus on real-world applications and collaboration. Computers will help the students utilize the Microsoft programs to prepare reports and presentations. 8th graders will have the opportunity to research future careers and perfoarm online exploration of colleges while 6th and 7th graders will be able to research various cultures and prepare presentions for their peers.

Students will have the opportunity to engage in learning activities that enrich the classroom instruction.

Students will learn about research techniques and essay writing, then use the computers to research a particular topic and create the presentation in Word or Powerpoint.
