Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an energetic bunch! They are full of curiosity and keep me on my toes.
They are special because they, like anyone, have the desire to communicate, but may have some difficulty at times.
My students live in a lower socioeconomic area and some of the parents do not speak or read fluent English to know what their rights are to ask for help. Besides their current situation, my students have shown me that they have the potential to be very successful if they have a communication tool to "bridge the gap". My students love to express themselves through music, dancing and art. They love to share what they can do to others, because like everyone, they just want to connect.
My Project
I am preparing to return to hybrid teaching and I need the tools to help my students be successful. These inexpensive Lenovo tablets will do the trick! With the online learning model, I have found great apps that my students love and can learn while on campus too, but we do not have enough to go around. This is just the beginning of what I need, but I have to start somewhere, right?
With your generosity I can use interactive apps like Nearpod and Google slides to help my students express what they are learning and in a fun and exciting way.
