My first grade students want to be Accelerated Reader Super Stars but we need your help. My students need the Listen, Read, & Rhyme with Dr. Seuss CD set, the Clifford CD Read-Alongs and the classroom cassette and CD wireless headphone set so that we can continue on our Accelerated Reader journey.
I teach at a low socio-economic school district in Oklahoma.
I have 20 first grade students in my classroom. My district is facing many state cut backs which have a direct impact on my classroom. My district is unable to purchase new books for our classroom library. My students are driven to become the top Accelerated Reader class in our school. They love to read, want to read, but we do not have enough books in our classroom library to meet the demand.
My Project
The resources I have asked for will help my students become Accelerated Reader Super Stars. They will have more books to choose from which will allow them to take more comprehension quizzes and to earn more points. The more books my students read the more fluent they become which is a major skill developed in first grade.
I have witnessed first hand this past school year how Accelerated Reader has pushed my student's reading fluency levels above the top.
