My Students

We are a public charter school in Chula Vista. My students choose to come to our school because traditional public school left them behind or they were bored. They have voice and choice in their activities in our class. My students are an amazing group of kids from all over Southern San Diego. They are artist, hands-on learners. They thrive with project based learning and interacting with the content. They are a diverse group of academic levels and work together to gain mastery of the concepts. We are a strong community that feels like a family. All students include each other and work together daily. We love to sing, create/play games, and act out our learning. When I tell my kids we are going to learn a song about our learning or play a game, they cheer!

My Project

We are a hands-on, personalized learning school. I like to incorporate songs, movements, and games into my stations. My students are more engaged in the concepts/standards when they are playing a game. They love playing a game over doing a worksheet. I typically teach a lesson and do small group work, next I have them play a game on the concept with their peers, then they practice on paper. I have a couple games that are common core related, but would like to add to my collection. I would like to have a large amount of games that can be used throughout the year that are standards based to engage students learning.
