Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In fall of 2020, my kindergarten students will enter their first year in school, but we won't be together in class like we use to. Due to COVID-19, distant learning at home will take place and virtual teaching will be a big challenge for me since most of the students have not had the freedom to be in school for nearly a year. It will be crucial for us to address the need of each student's social and emotional well being before academic can take place. Students will need to learn to communicate openly about their feelings and have a safe environment to share their thoughts.
My Project
Social and emotional well being is crucial during the lock down of our schools and communities- especially for our youngest learner. Students need to channel their feelings in a positive ways so their frustrations don't build up which will result in misbehavior.
Journal writing/drawing will be used as a tool to express their feelings so that students can share and discuss with the teacher.
Conversational cards can start a guided topic for the students connect and relate to other friends the class. Through TPT, teacher created resources on emotional well being can be accessed for the students during remote learning. Please help our class by donating to this important subject that must be taught in as an academic during pandemic
