This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Many of my students come from a trauma based background, low income, single parents, homeless, etc. They are coming to kindergarten without the preschool or home based educational background that students need when entering school these days. They are English Language learners that need to learn in a number of modalities. Hands on learning and exposure to realia is most beneficial to educating their growing minds. If there is anything I can do to make a change in these kids' lives, I will!
My Project
The alphabet sound tubs will help students to grasp the beginning sounds of objects and words. We will use them to sort sounds and also to categorize objects in math. I make sure to allow time for "play" or social/emotional learning. The Geostix, math manipulatives and magnetic number counters will be great for students to work together to solve problems, create and build social/ emotional skills.
These headphones will allow students to listen to stories and complete educational programs, while allowing small group learning to take place in the classroom without noise distractions.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
