Abilities Before Disabilities: Quality Education for All Students
Help me give my students a better learning experience. My students require adaptive materials. My visually impaired students require color copies and color contrast materials.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently teach a 4-6 grade multiple disabilities and orthopedic impairments classroom in Monterey Park, Ca.
My classroom consists of 7 students with varying abilities.
They have their own personality and smiles that can brighten your day the minute you walk in the door. I have students with limited mobility, students with visual impairments, students that are non-verbal, students that are beginning to read, students that are learning their abc's and students that use pictures to express their wants and needs. The majority of my students require hand-over-hand instruction, repetition, small group instruction and scaffolding. Although they have already faced so many challenges at this young age, they all come to school excited and ready to learn.
My Project
The products I selected will help my students by providing them with the materials they need for high quality education. My students are students with varying abilities that require adaptive materials, such as scissors, crayons, laminated worksheets, large print, and color materials for those visually impaired. The printer will be able to provide my students with colored copies which is the best form of learning for my students for all their work, something that due to budget, it's really hard to do on a daily basis with school equipment. The adaptive scissors and crayons will provide support for students that are most impacted in fine motor areas. Laminated worksheets provide students with multiple ways of completing worksheets. My students also come from low-income households. I would like to help my students be prepared for the upcoming year with materials they will need at home during distance learning to complete tasks.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
