My students need independent learning station activities such as phonics games, puzzles, and activities to practice phonetic skills.

My Students
"Reading, writing, and arithmetic are branches of the learning tree. Like "i" before "e" except after "c"...... Come on, sing a long! You know the song. Indeed, reading is a branch of the learning tree but in first grade we need to anchor some roots first.
My first grade students are always an active, eager bunch that enjoy fun and innovative ways to explore their learning.
They attend a school in the "heart of Cajun Country." Their school provides a learning opportunity for every child that steps onto the campus. Their school is a host school for students who reside at local shelters, as well as, being a school that students from low performing schools can transfer to from their current school. Our school is also a French Immersion school.
My Project
With the phonics games, puzzles, and activities, students will be able to build foundational skills such as phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, and more. My first graders will be able to use these materials independently at learning stations within the classroom. By manipulating letters to build words and by writing those words, students can make those connections that are needed for early literacy development.
With your funding, my students will have ample, tactile materials to practice the skills necessary to become independent, fluent readers.
They will establish "roots" so that the "reading branch" of the learning tree will grow for years to come.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
