LKA is a free charter school dedicated to educating children with dyslexia and other related learning disabilities. People with dyslexia often have a higher-than-average IQ, and many are talented in other areas, such as music or art. For dyslexics, learning reading and writing through art can be an effective way to develop these academic skills. Art can help dyslexics develop an understanding of symbolism, spatial awareness, and creative thinking skills. This is important for both reading and writing, as dyslexics often have difficulty thinking abstractly.
All of the creative students at LKA are eager to express themselves through visual arts!
The school is still in the development stages since opening in 2022. Their brand-new building was just recently completed, and the art program was initiated in August 2023 with minimal art supplies. We need your donations to help us begin working on exciting new projects with a variety of art media.
