My Students
The students in my classroom are all considered at-risk of potential future academic failure. All though they are at-risk because of economic status, language acquisition or other family factures, I consider them future stars that need a little extra. I was able to overcome some of these same obstacles. So I know the students can also. For most of the students this is their first experience with school or even away from family. My personal goal for all of my children and their adults, is to build a positive foundation of learning. By working toward this goal the students will be confident, independent individuals with the tools needed to succeed in life.
I provide them with an environment where the are respected as individuals and feel safe to express themselves.
From this, they can reach their full potential, which is beyond what they think they can accomplish. These accomplishments affect the families, students and adults, which fosters future educational success.
My Project
We are looking to get some interactive alphabet materials, as prekindergarten students we are developing alphabet knowledge. Some of the items we are looking for will help with letter identification and formation, such as the Magnetic learning letters lowercase and the uppercase board. The building letters activity is to identify and form letters with sticks and curves. The letter beanbags, learning locks and alphabet magnetics are primarily for letter identification. These materials will help us work on learn the names of the letters and how to write them. Letter formation is essential for all writing activities, if I have to think about how to make a letter I can't focus on my story.
I need my letters to write and I need to write my letters.
All children are authors and their story is not written yet. They will write a story, but they just have not found the story to write yet.
