Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from Chicago and they are part of the blended pre-school program. This program gives my students an opportunity to interact with many diverse learners. My amazing preschoolers come to class everyday to learn, discover, and explore.
They gleefully draw pictures, create art, read books, dance, and sing throughout the remote learning day and in person.
My students love identifying letters and their sounds, colors, shapes, and feelings (SEL). Since this beginning of the school year, my students are now hybrid. I have students learning from home and students learning in the classroom. My students have been trying their best to stay positive and connected during these confusing and difficult times.
My Project
On January 11th, my school district went hybrid. Which means I have students in the classroom and students in person. I want to create exciting new ways for my students to learn letters and letter sounds. The alphabet uppercase letter beads will allow my students to create necklaces using letters, not only are my students using motor skills to make these awesome necklaces but in the process of making them I will ask them about the letters they are using so they can become familiar with the alphabet. I also have magnetic tub letters in my order to help my students with uppercase and lowercase letters while playing in the kitchen in our dramatic play area. Students will be able to sort them during play time. This will be more engaging for my preschoolers to be able to touch and feel the letters and move them around. The last item on my list is the Alphabots! These robot letters are going to bring so many smiles during the school day! My students will be able to create robots out of letters and my students will be sounding out the letter because each robot will have it's own unique letter sound. This activity will help them with not only recognizing the letter but the letter sound.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' recognition of letters and letter sounds!
