Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Phonics and learning the letters of the alphabet are crucial in building a foundation for early reading. My students may be the age equivalent of 1st graders but cognitively need extra support. Many are not familiar with the basic letters of the alphabet.
These tools will help give them a more hands on experience.
The mystery box and alphabet tubs will provide a sensory experience where the students can explore different objects that start with each letter of the alphabet. They can sort the objects by letter and learn a variety of different words in the process.
As the students build on their literacy, the phonics box will help deepen their understanding and grow their knowledge. It will also increase their site word usage and work towards the ultimate goal of reading.
