FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Warren's classroom raised $586
This project is fully funded
I teach a group of 15 enthusiastic kindergartners in a very economically depressed area. The school is 100% free and reduced lunch and is the poorest school in our district. All of my students come from the housing projects adjacent to the schools and have very limited or no experience with learning prior to kindergarten.
My students come from homes where there is very little, if any, prior knowledge of letters or sounds which will make learning to read much more difficult for them.
The solution is to provide them with as many opportunities to learn the letters and the sounds of the letter so that they can over come the deficit they face and work towards becoming readers before they leave kindergarten. We need ABC puzzles, ABC games and ABC learning centers so they can learn the alphabet and letter sounds to become fluent readers.
These resources will provide fun, exciting and educational opportunities for my students to practice letter sounds and learn the alphabet in a hands on manner. For my students, the more hands on the activities, the better their learning and retention.
Your support will help to ensure that my students can learn to read and use the skills they learn with these resources to become fluent readers.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
