My Project
I teach a joyful and curious group of Pre-K students our school. Many of my students are from low-income households and are experiencing school—and books—for the very first time. In our classroom, we follow a letter-of-the-week curriculum, where each week we focus on a new letter, sound, and theme. The books in this project were carefully selected to align with each letter and are an essential part of our daily lessons.
These read-alouds help introduce vocabulary, teach early literacy skills, spark meaningful conversations, and support comprehension through engaging stories.
For example, Jamberry supports our “J” week, If You Give a Moose a Muffin goes with “M,” and Llama Llama Red Pajama helps us explore “L.” Some books also support our social-emotional learning, like In My Heart: A Book of Feelings and K Is for Kindness.
These books will be used for circle time, small-group instruction, and independent reading, helping students make meaningful connections between letters, words, and real-life concepts. Your support will help bring our lessons to life, build a strong classroom library, and create a learning environment where all children feel inspired and included.
