My Students

My students are an energetic bundle of joy. I teach in an inner-city school where one hundred percent of my students qualify for free lunch. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. One student lives with her grandparents because both of her parents are incarcerated. Another student lives with her grandparents because her home was a loss to fire. Another student lives with foster parents. During a home visit I discovered that a parent did not have a stove nor a refrigerator, thus I had to find resources to assist the family.

School is a safe haven where the children are loved and supported.

They need additional resources to make them feel appreciated and become successful in life.

My Project

The ABC's are the building blocks of language. In order to become literate, our children must be able to recognize each letter, both in order and out of order, as well as the sounds connected with that letter. Armed with that knowledge, a child is well on the road to reading and literacy.

If you make learning fun, children will love learning.

Children learn by utilizing their senses, I want to utilize a number of approaches to teach the ABCs such as the requested play dough to construct the letters. The puzzles I am requesting will students help identify the letters.

Alphabetic knowledge is the best predictor of future reading and spelling success for children as they enter kindergarten. Please help my students succeed in learning their letters and the sounds connected to the letters.
