This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help me give my students a vibrant and welcoming school environment by providing decorations for holidays and celebrations throughout the year! I work with an incredible group of students at a Title I school in Watts. They are resilient, creative, and full of enthusiasm despite facing many challenges.

My goal is to create an uplifting and festive atmosphere that makes our students feel valued, motivated, and proud of their school.

Unfortunately, our school has no budget for decorations to mark holidays or milestones, but I believe that every student deserves to experience the joy of a well-decorated, celebratory space.

I’ve chosen items that will help us celebrate the entire school year—from the first day of school to Halloween, winter holidays, Valentine’s Day, Kindness Week, St. Patrick’s Day, Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and more. I’ve also included decorations for attendance incentives like a glow dance party or donut and ice cream celebrations. Resources such as balloon garlands, colorful backdrops, themed props, and a balloon pump will help us transform our school environment and make every event feel special.

One special item in this project is a life-size skeleton model. While it will be a fun and engaging decoration for Halloween, it will also serve as an educational tool throughout the year. Students will be able to learn about human anatomy in a hands-on, visual way, reinforcing science lessons and sparking curiosity about the human body.

These celebrations and educational experiences will not only boost school spirit but also support social-emotional learning by fostering positive relationships and creating joyful, memorable moments. When students feel connected and valued, they are more engaged and motivated to learn. Your support will make every occasion memorable and help our students thrive both socially and academically!
