My Students

I teach English Language Arts to 5th and 6th graders. Our school is a public school academy. Students must pass rigorous standards to be accepted into the school. Additionally, they must maintain top academics and behaviors. My students belong to the very top echelon of students in the city. As inner-city students, they are faced with so many challenges, but everyday they come ready to learn and achieve.

Unfortunately, my school district is faced with a great deal of financial challenges, too.

I supplement my classroom supplies as much as I can, but find some equipment and materials beyond my means. I want my students to have the best classroom environment possible. Rest assured, your contributions will positively influence the lives of my students!

My Project

My students need copies of A WRINKLE IN TIME to read and study this classic science fiction novel.This project will give my students the opportunity to read and study the classic science fiction novel A WRINKLE IN TIME. This study of the novel pairs wonderfully with the soon-to-be-released Disney movie with many African-American actors. I believe my students will find many ways to relate with the characters' experiences.

My school is a Title 1 school.

My inner-city students are all on Free and Reduced Lunch. They face many life obstacles, but work hard everyday with sunny dispositions.

I look forward to sharing the wonders of A WRINKLE IN TIME with everyone of my students. I can't wait until they discover and explore the wonders of the novel. I am extremely excited to begin this unit and profusely thank you for helping me to expand my students' horizons.
