it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Scholastic Magazines have proven time and time again to be a resourceful and motivational supplement to classrooms! First graders are full of questions, wonderings, curiosity and imagination. Their short academic careers have been marred by the long Pandemic and staying home. These magazines will provide "a window to the world" and help open their eyes to current events and scientific topics. Children can read about inspirational people, headline news and scientific discoveries.
By donating to this project, these little minds will learn about big world topics that may not only teach them, but inspire them!
Have you recently seen a light in a child's eyes when they realize something or make a connection to something they read at school? Picture that special moment and know that I am here for it! Reading and writing with these magazines can absolutely boost literacy skills, self-esteem and student accountability. Not only are students learning about global topics, but geography, science, social studies and math are sprinkled in! Both in class and at home, students can proudly share their learning through their notebooks. When they write or draw a response to what they read, they make connections. Connecting to texts is how students broaden their horizons, grow their vocabulary and take chances with their learning!
Help me give my curious and eager little first graders a chance to open "a window to the world" and build their literacy foundation. They can discuss topics and develop critical thinking skills using the full color, highly engaging magazines!
