Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school was fortunate enough to be awarded a Disney Musicals in Schools partnership. We are a Title I community school with a majority population of English Language Learners. We are one hundred percent free lunch for the students and a hot supper for the community.

With your help, our students will benefit immensely from having the opportunity to participate in a brand new theater arts program in our school.

Research has shown that including the arts in a child's school experience promotes higher-level thinking skills, embraces the whole child, accesses different learning modalities, and supports a child's overall academic growth.

My Project

With these materials, our students will be able to capture the essence of musical theater. They will discover their inner artists and be able to perform for their peers and their school community. Students will learn to perform on a professional level with singing, dancing, and reading with prosody!

The items we are requesting will give our students the chance to be creative with set design, prop-making, lighting, and stage choreography.

Students will take ownership of musical direction, dance routines, and backstage management. They will build 21st-century skills of problem-solving, collaboration, decision-making, and responsibility. Thank you for your help in supporting the arts in an inner-city school. We will debut our show in May 2020
