Help me give my students books and whiteboards. I am reaching out to seek your support in providing my students with whiteboards that they can use to express their creative ideas.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The use of whiteboards has become an almost daily activity in my classroom, especially during math lessons. We often follow the workshop model, where students gather on the rug with their whiteboards for guided practice and to record different strategies we've modeled together. These whiteboards serve a dual purpose: they allow me to closely monitor what my students are doing and provide them with a convenient space to display and share their work. As an experienced educator, I have found that incorporating a whiteboard into my teaching practices has greatly enhanced my students' learning experience. In this article, I will share with you the various ways in which I use a whiteboard to engage my students, promote interactive learning, and ultimately help them achieve academic success.
Enhancing Visual Learning
One of the key advantages of using a whiteboard in the classroom is its ability to enhance visual learning. By writing key concepts, numbers and letters, and illustrations on the whiteboard, I can provide my students with a visual representation of the material being discussed. This not only helps to reinforce their understanding of the subject matter but also makes it easier for them to retain the information.
Promoting Interactive Learning
Another benefit of using a whiteboard is that it promotes interactive learning. I often use the whiteboard as a tool for student engagement, encouraging my students to come up to the board, write, draw, or answer questions. This interactive approach not only keeps my students actively involved in the lesson but also encourages collaboration and critical thinking skills.
