A Welcoming Classroom

My Project

This summer I spent some time rearranging the furniture in my classroom, changing the focus to a new wall after my wall-mounted SmartBoard was removed. The removal of the SmartBoard has left any eye sore on the wall. The wall tapestries that I have requested will not only cover the screw holes in the drywall, but they will also add color and an air of positivity to the room. The messages on the tapestries encourage student to think positively and to be kind. I am also requesting two sets of twinkle lights.

Research has shown that harsh flourescent lighting can make students feel anxious and decrease their concentration.

Holiday lights, including the twinkle lights included here, may boost a student's mood and happiness. At the very least, these twinkle lights will make the room feel warmer and more welcoming.

By contributing to this project, you will help students feel welcomed. When they feel welcomed, they are more likely to actively engage in the learning and share their thinking.
