I work with wonderful and bright students enrolled in Life Skills classrooms, grades K-4th. This is my second year working as a Speech-Language Pathologist with these students, and I finally have my own classroom! My students are primarily working on functional communication skills so that they can communicate their thoughts, wants, and needs within their educational setting. Help me create a warm and inviting speech space for my students to learn, grow, and play!
I want to create a warm and inviting speech classroom that fosters communication skills through play.
I already have a table and regular classroom chairs, but would love to accommodate students by having a more comfy, on-the-floor option for play, learning, and communication. In my current classroom, I have a lot of floor space, but no rugs or comfy, on-the-floor seating for a play area / alternative area for speech therapy. The little bookshelf would allow me to display picture books for the students to choose from, which are currently stored in a filing cabinet. Additionally, I have many toy cars, and the car/road rug would be a great addition to encourage imaginative play with toy vehicles. I also currently have empty walls. The colorful speech posters would help tie everything together for a warm and inviting space for my students.
