This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first-grade students are a part of an integrated co-teaching classroom. We have students from all cultures who learn in different ways. This classroom allows them to explore early on, the variety of ways they can learn. Our school is located in Chelsea, Manhattan, a lively and vibrant neighborhood. With students just as lively and vibrant, we want to make sure we are catering their needs.
My students have large personalities, a trait that we want to continue to embrace to encourage confident and well-spoken community members.
They're excited to learn and motivated to be the best first graders they can be.
My Project
The supplies requested will allow my co-teacher and me to create a space that matches our promises to our students.
One of our promises to our students is that the classroom will always be a safe space for them.
By donating to our project, our students will be able to feel like this classroom is another home to them. The supplies are mainly organizational and decorative, for the purpose of our students to be in an environment they enjoying being in and for them to become independent with the supplies and resources around them. While we understand that these supplies are in no way a NEED, it will ultimately allow for a warm and welcoming space to be created.
