My students need a set of literature books, HeidiSongs DVDs and puppet, live caterpillar larvae, Let's Find Out magazines, fabric paint, award stickers and other items.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are just turning 5. For many of them, this is their first experience in a school setting. Some of the students have special learning needs, and some are learning English for the first time. The majority of their families live below the poverty line, and rely on our free meal plan for their child's breakfast and lunch.
Our school is a high poverty, Title I school, with high expectations for all.
Each day we practice letters, phonics and sight words. We study science, social studies, and incorporate art daily. Little by little we are becoming proficient readers. A supply of many different hands-on materials is important for daily practice and for motivating my young readers. They enjoy school and want to do their best!
My Project
We are in need of a variety of materials to enhance our lessons throughout the content areas. The Literature Themes set of books will help to develop literacy as well as curiosity. The name tags will be worn when we go to specials such as library, music and dance. HeidiSongs Mother Goose materials and puppet will help the children learn to rhyme and develop phonemic awareness. Let's Find Out magazines will provide science and social studies content throughout the year. My students will love watching live caterpillars go through their life cycle. We will use the tote bags, fabric markers and paint for art projects, and the award stickers will serve as incentives to encourage good work.
These resources will benefit my students in many ways throughout the year.
Your donation will help make this the #BestSchoolDay for my students! We need your help. Thank you for your support!
