Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help my students protect their technology devices so they will last for years to come! We use our iPads, and iPod every day, and they take a lot of abuse. Protective cases will make them last for years.
My students attend a Title I school in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
This means that over fifty percent of our families live below the poverty line. Many of the students' families aren't able to afford computers or iPads at home, so our it is important that we provide these experiences at school.
We are a multi-cultural school, and the student population includes English learners and students with special needs. My students are a great group, and come to school enthusiastic and ready to learn. My school has purchased math software called Dreambox Learning. We use our iPads to access this software daily. We also work on websites like Starfall and PBS Kids to improve literacy in a fun way.
My Project
We are in need of iPad and iPod cases that are designed for children. The cases I am requesting will be perfect. They are soft, so will protect the devices when they fall. Also, they have handles that convert to stands. This makes them easy to carry and easy to use.
The Scholastic children's DVDs would help illustrate the many stories we read in class. The variety of name tags will be worn when we go to specials such as library, music and dance.
I am also requesting a voice amplifier, so that my students will be able to hear each other at sharing time, and hear me when we are out on the yard. Academic achievement is increased when students can actually hear the lessons!
These resources will benefit my students in many ways throughout the year.
