A Universe of Legos

Help me give my students Legos and models that will help chemistry become real to them.

My Project

I am excited to introduce my students to the world of chemistry through the physical use of Legos and molecular models. I've found that many students struggle with chemistry concepts such as atoms verses molecules and conservation of matter in chemical reactions. This is especially true for students with limited reading or math skills and English language learners, which are common in my classroom demographic.

I am excited to teach these concepts in a hands-on way, using Legos and molecular building kits to allow students to build and combine molecules as they model chemical reactions.

Using familiar legos, and then more advanced building kits, students will be able to grasp these difficult concepts and then learn to represent them on paper.

I know these physical manipulatives will make a big difference to my students' learning of chemistry this year. Please help me teach my students about the amazing "Universe of Legos" that we live in!
