FULLY FUNDED! Ms. D'Amato's classroom raised $227
This project is fully funded
I am a second grade teacher in the East New York section of Brooklyn. All of my students receive free school lunch.
My colleagues and I have made it a point to cover a unit of study on New York City with the students. We feel that it is important for the students to see the world outside of their community, and to learn about all of the wonderful things that NYC has to offer.
In order to give the students an opportunity to learn about what life was like (appx) 100 years ago, we would like to take the students on a trip to the Lower East Side Tenement Museum.
This museum offers the students the opportunity to see what life would have been like for a child living in New York City around the turn of the century. The students are able to touch objects and ask questions from a guide in costume, making the experience come to life. They will then be able to compare and contrast life today to life back then.
We are asking for funding to enable our class to enjoy this experience!
