My Students

In our classroom, I encourage my students to be curious and creative about anything and everything and to take pride in the work they produce. My school is full of great teachers who share the same goal.

Our students come from far and wide to learn and grow together.

Even though many of them have already experienced extreme hardships in their young lives, they are all bright, kind, thoughtful, and eager to learn. As a teacher, this means I need to constantly intrigue, interest, and challenge them.

My Project

I have microscopes in my classroom that are useful and valuable for what they are, but I have less than a quarter of a classroom set. They are all cool mid-century relics, and I think it would be really cool to have one microscope in the classroom that was made in this century.

Learning to use microscopes and preparing slides is somewhat of a right of passage in my 8th-grade biology classroom.

My 6th and 7th-grade students are jealous to see the microscopes out of the cabinet when I am preparing for 8th-grade labs, and when they ask I will show them what we're working on. It is always rewarding for me when I see them excited and enthusiastic to use them on their own when they get to 8th grade. This year my 8th graders are among the most talented I've ever had, and I want this year to be special for them.

They really deserve the best, and with your help, I can help bring their lab equipment into the modern era. When I think about how much they will enjoy seeing a live specimen projected 2500x onto a video screen, I know it will be one of those learning experiences that they'll never forget.
