A Teaching Easel for Visual Learning

My Students

Multiple pathways for learning is a cornerstone in my classroom. A teaching easel is a major support in aiding this development in my students and would give them a deeper learning experience.

Our school is 40% Latino, 15% African-American, 15% White and an amazing mix of other backgrounds and cultures.

Many of our students are English Language Learners. My classroom is comprised of over half ELL students. Over 75% of our school population is eligible for free and reduced lunch.

My Project

A teaching easel provides more opportunities for teaching and learning. Whole and small group lessons are taught on the rug and a teaching easel is the focal point of the lessons. In math, reading, writing, science, social studies, and character education, an easel offers a visual space to aid in teaching and for students to show and model work. In addition it stores valuable teaching tools and manipulatives for students to use during lessons. An easel also offers more organization for teaching supplies.

We need a multi-purpose teaching easel to create deeper learning experiences and provide more teacher support.

Students can delve into learning better when they have visual aids and a space for writing. An easel compliments and supports reading and writing workshop lessons and offers space for kids to work on math problems and explore in science and social studies. An easel would help build a richer learning environment for our classroom.
